Our travel tip in Rennes:
Rennes is home to the Marché des Limes, the second largest market in France, which always takes place on Saturday mornings. You can have a picnic with your fresh purchases in the restaurants around the market. All you have to do is order your drinks, cutlery and boards are provided, which is similar to the concept of a beer garden here in France. Incidentally, a specialty in Rennes is the galette saucisse (a type of French sausage wrapped in a galette and served with a dollop of mustard).
Enjoy your vacation trip by car in Brittany at Mont Saint-Michel and experience Cancale with an oyster tasting
2. Travel stage: Mont Saint-Michel and Cancale
The excursion to the magical islet of Mont Saint-Michel is known as the Miracle of the West. It is best known for its Gothic monastery with its rich history.

On the way south, you will also make a stop at the mystical Mont Saint Michel. (c) Berthier Emmanuel
But the island also offers a wonderful tidal spectacle: at high tide, the island can no longer be reached by land. The monastery is a symbol of French cultural heritage and is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Europe. The cloister of the monastery and the surrounding buildings seem to have come from another era. You can drive to Mont-Saint-Michel by car. There is a parking lot on the mainland, from where you have to walk 800m to the Place des Navettes. At Place des Navettes, you can take the shuttle or walk over the causeway. At Mont Saint Michel, you can take an English guided tour, or you can explore this magical place at your own pace thanks to the German audio guide.
The second stop of the day is Cancale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its oysters, which you will taste during an oyster tasting with Muscadet, thanks to the seawater in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, which is particularly rich in iodine and plankton, giving the oysters here in Cancale their special flavor. Discover the secrets of oyster farming in Cancale on a guided walk through the oyster parks.
In Cancale, visit an oyster producer and taste the freshly caught delicacies from the sea.
Afterwards, drive to Saint-Malo and check in at the Hotel Villefromoy, which is located just 80 m from the beach in a peaceful setting. 26 rooms with superior comfort await you. The elegant decoration, the symbiosis of modernity and the charm of the past, has a calming effect. Inner courtyards and green terraces create a feel-good atmosphere.
The elegant Hotel Villefromoy is your oasis of relaxation in Saint Malo during your trip to Brittany by car.
Brittany adventure trip by car: round trip to Saint Malo and discover Galette
After breakfast, a two-hour city tour awaits you in Saint-Malo. Saint-Malo is still surrounded by a walkable ring wall, which offers ever-changing views of the old mansions of the wealthy shipowners, the city and the sea. At the end of the tour, you will get to know the specialty of Brittany, the galette, during a small tasting. You will have free time in the afternoon.

Our travel tip for Saint Malo:
We recommend taking the "Bateau Rouge" to Dinard, the boat leaves every 20 minutes, travel time 10 minutes. Dinard is the "Brighton of Brittany". Blue and white beach tents adorn the beach of Dinard, which was discovered for the Parisian world by Albert Lacroix in 1875. The villa colony on the La Malouine plateau is an architectural rarity. Dinard was a hotspot for stars up until the turn of the century, with Richard Wagner as much a guest as Claude Debussy and Pablo Picasso.
Holidays on the pink granite coast in Brittany - an essential part of a successful Brittany round trip!
Stage 3: The pink granite coast of Perros Guirrec
After breakfast, head towards Perros-Guirrec, where the Hôtel Les Costans is waiting for you.
You can either take the direct route or choose a detour along the coast. The Pink Granite Coast is a beautiful coastal region known for its pink granite rocks and formations. The section from Perros-Guirec to Trébeurden in particular offers spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding landscape.

If you like hiking, you'll find the GR34 trail, which starts at the Plage de Trestraou in Perros-Guirrec and takes you all the way to Ploumanac'h with wonderful views of the islands. The GR34 is the longest long-distance hiking trail in Brittany, which starts at Mont Saint-Michel and ends in Saint-Nazaire after more than 2000 kilometers. Overnight stay at the beach hotel Les Costans.
You will spend the night at Hôtel Les Costans, 350 meters from Sentier de L'ile Renote and 3.7 km from Ploumanac'h lighthouse. The hotel is just a few minutes' drive from the Seven Islands nature reserve and has 27 rooms with sea views.
The Hotel Les Costans in Perros-Guirec will be the perfect end to your trip to Brittany.
Enjoy Brittany: This round trip in northern France takes you to enchanting Quimper and you will taste the first single malt from France
4th stage: Warengheim - Quimper
After breakfast, set off for Quimper. Stop at Warenghem, a whisky distillery that was founded in 1900. This distillery produced the first single malt from France, Armorik, which was officially launched in 1998 and quickly became the distillery's main attraction. You will visit the distillery and cellars, followed by an introduction to whisky tasting.
During your tour of Brittany, you will stop off at the first single malt in France.
Continue to Quimper, the Saint-Corentin cathedral can already be seen from afar. You stroll through narrow alleyways and feel like you've been transported back to the Middle Ages by the numerous half-timbered houses.

Dinner today is at Ti-Coz which is listed in the Bib Gourmand of the Michelin Guide. Here you will find both rural charm and a modern, elegant interior reminiscent of an English club. Head chef Christophe Despinasse is a fan of tasty, traditional cuisine that highlights the best of Breton ingredients. As a former sommelier, he combines his recipes with a fantastic wine cellar of 500 wines. You will enjoy a delicious 3-course menu.

In Quimper, you can spend the night in the modern Best Western Plus Kregenn. This hotel welcomes you to an elegant building in the city center, just 300 meters from Quimper Cathedral.
The Best Western Plus Kregenn with its cozy inner courtyard is located just a few steps from Quimper city center.
Holidays in Brittany: Of fishermen, artists and menhirs - Concarneau, Pont-Aven and Vannes
5. Stage: Vannes - Pont Aven
On your way to Vannes, you should make two stops: once in Concarneau and in Pont-Aven. The old town of Concarneau is located on an island in the fishing port and is completely surrounded by a wall, which in turn is surrounded by water. A single bridge leads to the old town, which is called Villa Close. The Villa Close offers picturesque narrow streets, charming houses from the 16th-18th centuries, boutiques, restaurants and craft stores.
Another highlight in the direction of Vannes is the former artists' colony Pont-Aven. In the late 19th century, the town attracted many artists, including Paul Gauguin and Émile Bernard. They were attracted by the idyllic riverside setting, as well as the picturesque bridges and old watermills, which provided the perfect environment for their creativity. The artistic tradition lives on in Pont-Aven, where you will find a variety of art galleries and studios. Not forgetting, of course, the menhirs of Carnac.

Brittany vacations for connoisseurs also include many natural spectacles such as the menhirs (c) Berthier Emmanuel
You will find 3000 menhirs that are 7000 years old. The special thing about the megaliths of Carnac is their incredible arrangement in evenly spaced rows. The two most important towns alone, Ménec and Kermario, have around 3000 menhirs. The rows of stones stretch over 4 kilometers. You can walk in the footsteps of your ancestors on your own or on a guided tour. You can find information about the stone rows at the Maison des Mégalithes.
Continue to Vannes and check in at the Hotel Maison de la Garenne. The boutique hotel has an outdoor pool and a small wellness area.
The enchanting boutique hotel Maison de la Garenne welcomes you with a pool in Vannes.
Today, dinner takes place in an unusual setting: a discarded ship has been converted into a restaurant. Enjoy the view and the special atmosphere during a romantic 3-course dinner.
The rooms at the Maison de la Garenne boutique hotel in Vannes are chic and elegant.
A boat tour in Morbihan and cider tasting on your Brittany trip
Today you will spend the morning on the water on a boat tour through the Gulf of Morbihan. "Mor Bihan" is Breton and means "the little sea". The sea is interspersed with countless small islands and you don't know whether the sea has penetrated inland or vice versa. Radiant light, a multitude of islands and islets, pretty houses on the shore: this is the Gulf of Morbihan, the pearl of southern Brittany. Take a 3-hour cruise through this magnificent region.

In the afternoon, head to Le Hezo to learn about the production of the national drink at the Maison de Cidre. Of course, a tasting of this refreshing drink is a must on a trip to Brittany.
During your vacation in Brittany, you will of course also taste the national drink, cider. (c) La maison du Cidre
On your further way, we can recommend a detour to the Domaine de Suscinio castle. The castle served as a summer residence for the Dukes of Brittany for a long time. From there you have a wonderful view of the Bay of Quiberon. Today it houses museums. As culinary delights should of course not be neglected, you will learn all about cheese production at Tome de Rhuys and as you are sure to have become hungry in the process, you can taste the cheeses on a "cheese discovery board", accompanied by a salad (excluding drinks).
