Enjoyable Piedmont round trip for self-drivers: Turin, the Langhe and Monferrato
Discover Piedmont on a 6-day self-drive round trip with a focus on enjoyment and culture. You will spend one night in Turin, two nights in the Langhe region and two nights in picturesque Monferrato. In Turin, a private city tour awaits you, followed by a vermouth tasting with three varieties and a 3-course menu with regional specialties. In the Langhe, you will take part in a truffle hunt, enjoy a cheese tasting with an affineur and an innovative 5-course tasting menu in the Michelin-starred Green Restaurant, which has the barbecue as its leitmotif.

The region is also known for its wine culture: you will taste five wines, including Barolo, and visit a historic winery with a sparkling wine tasting. The trip is rounded off with private city tours in Alba and Asti, where you will discover the highlights of these charming yet very different places.
Discover elegant Turin and its delicacies - stage 1 of the Piedmont round trip
Turin, the elegant capital of Piedmont, delights with its mix of history, culture and enjoyment. Magnificent baroque palaces, spacious squares and charming arcades characterize the cityscape. Turin is known as the home of vermouth, Italian chocolate and aperitivo. Museums such as the Egyptian Museum, the Automobile Museum and the Film Museum are among the best in Europe. Turin is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are closely linked to the history of the House of Savoy. The King's Palace of Turin (Palazzo Reale), which once served as the main residence of the Savoy dynasty, is enthroned in the heart of the city. Magnificent halls, the royal armory and valuable art collections bear witness to the former power and wealth of the family. Another highlight is the Villa della Regina, an elegant Baroque villa on a hill overlooking the city. Surrounded by terraced vineyards, it served as a peaceful retreat for the royal family.

Turin has an incredible elegance and is a great start to your tour of Piedmont.
The Opera 35 boutique hotel in Turin offers stylish design in a historic building. The modern rooms are elegantly furnished and equipped with high-quality materials. The hotel is centrally located in the lively San Salvario district, ideal for exploring Turin's sights with ease. There is a private garage for guests with a car, which can be reserved for an extra charge.

A beautiful boutique hotel in Turin is a wonderful starting point for discoveries.
A vermouth tasting in Turin and Piedmontese dinner to lick your fingers
On the day of arrival, you will experience a wonderful vermouth tasting not far from your hotel, where you will sample the three styles of vermouth (Bianco, Rosso and Extra Dry) with small appetizers. Turin is considered the birthplace of vermouth. Its history dates back to the 18th century, when flavored wines were first refined with wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and other herbs, spices and citrus fruits in Turin.
After the tasting, we recommend a walk through the illuminated streets of Turin, some of which feature artistic light installations. Afterwards, a delicious 2-course dinner awaits you in a modern trattoria, where you can't help but try the house specialty - vitello tonnato.

Nougat and bicerin belong to Turin like the royal palace.
The next day, your private guide for the city tour in Turin will be waiting for you at the hotel. Leave room for the Turin cult drink Bicerin - a specialty made from coffee and chocolate that will give you a boost of energy.
The Langhe: truffles, Barolo and cheese art - stage 2 of the Piedmont round trip
The Langhe is one of the most beautiful and renowned regions of Piedmont, known for its rolling hills, historic villages and first-class wine culture. The landscape is characterized by endless vineyards and hazelnut groves, which turn into a fascinating play of colors with the changing seasons. In 2014, the cultural landscape of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site - a testament to the unique beauty and importance of this region.

The cultural landscape of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The first stop on the second stage is hidden in an inconspicuous courtyard in the small town of Bra. This is the headquarters of one of Europe's best affineurs, who will guide you through his sacred cheese halls today. After the tour, you will taste no fewer than ten different types of cheese, either from cows, sheep or goats, and also enjoy a typical Piedmontese jam, which will go perfectly with the Robiola varieties on the tasting platter. You will then continue to your accommodation in La Morra, where you will stay for the next two nights.

The paradise for cheese lovers....you will love the cheeses at the affineur.
A hotel with heart in the heart of the Langhe
The UVE Rooms & Wine Bar in La Morra, right in the heart of the Langhe, is a charming boutique hotel that combines modern design with regional tradition. It is located in a lovingly restored historic building and offers an intimate, stylish atmosphere. The quiet inner courtyard invites you to relax with a glass of wine or an espresso, surrounded by Mediterranean flair and the typical architecture of the region. The in-house wine bar is known for its carefully curated selection of local wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco. Small, regionally inspired dishes and cheese platters are the perfect accompaniment.

The UVE is your next hotel and is located in the heart of the enchanting village of La Morra.
An exciting truffle hunt in the Langhe in Piedmont
Depending on the availability of the truffle hunter and the weather, you have the morning or afternoon at leisure. Take a walk in La Morra, where you have a wonderful view over the Barolo wine-growing region from the Belvedere viewpoint, or make a detour to Barolo to the WiMu, probably the most innovative wine museum in Italy.
The truffle hunt on this trip is an exciting experience! With an experienced Trifolao and his dog, you will roam the surrounding forests. As soon as the dog has picked up the scent, it's off at speed through the undergrowth - sturdy footwear is a must here! The four-legged friend and his master are a perfectly attuned team: the dog tracks down the tuber and begins to scratch carefully so as not to damage it.
Finely done! The trifolao and his dog are a well-coordinated team and bring the truffles to light!
The last step is taken by the trifolao, who carefully retrieves the truffles from the ground - sometimes from a depth of up to one meter. With a practiced eye, he finally brings the precious treasure to light. A unique experience that you will remember for a long time to come!
Afterwards, enjoy typical Piedmontese egg pasta tajarin with freshly shaved black truffles and a glass of Barolo or Barbaresco in the excellent restaurant at your accommodation.
Tasting Barolo, Barbera and the wines of the Langhe at the winemaker
In the heart of Barolo, you will follow in the footsteps of one of the most important wines in Europe. You will make the acquaintance of the king of wines and the wine for kings - Barolo. During a guided tour of an organic winery, you will learn more about the history of this fine wine and the winery. You will peek into the vineyards and cellars. This is the perfect time to expand your knowledge, because you will realize that not all Barolo wines are the same. Rarely can you taste the differences of a terroir so precisely.
The king of wines - Barolo! You will get up close to this special wine today, especially during a guided tour and tasting!
A Barolo produced in La Morra, for example, is softer than a Barolo from Serralunga or Monforte, for example, and you will also taste the little brothers of Barolo, as well as a sparkling wine from the winery. You can look forward to a fantastic guided tour and tasting of five wines that will introduce you to this exciting DOCG wine-growing region and its legendary wine!
Lunch at a gourmet restaurant with a green Michelin star in the Langhe
Luca Zecchin will enchant you today with his innovative Piedmontese cuisine. Many of the ingredients come from his own farm or from neighboring producers. The elegant restaurant with a view of the vineyards (and a view of the Alps when the weather is fine!)

The fire is blazing in the dining room....for cooking and for the atmosphere.
You enjoy what we consider to be the chef's most special 5-course tasting menu, which is prepared entirely from the grill or on the fire.

Even the apple tart in the dessert is refined with grilled apples.
Discover Alba, the capital of white truffles on a private city tour
Before you leave the Langhe, we have also planned another cultural stop for you. Alba, the charming little town in the heart of the Langhe, is a real gem for connoisseurs and culture lovers. Famous as the capital of the white truffle, Alba attracts visitors from all over the world every year, especially during the truffle fair in the fall. The medieval old town with its winding alleyways, elegant boutiques and historic towers invites you to stroll and discover. Your private guide will give you a tip or two and also plan a stop at a truffle boutique in the city center.
The Monferrato with great sparkling wines and the enchanting Asti - stage 3 of the Piedmont round trip
The Monferrato, located in the south-east of Piedmont, is a picturesque region full of rolling hills, sprawling vineyards and romantic villages. The region is less touristy than the Langhe and offers an authentic, tranquil atmosphere. Small wineries, family restaurants and agriturismi invite you to do just that, discover the regional cuisine - from handmade pasta and meat dishes to the famous hazelnuts that are grown here. Another highlight are the Underground Cathedrals of Canelli, extensive cellar vaults where sparkling wines have been maturing for centuries. The charming towns of Nizza Monferrato and Casale Monferrato are also worth a visit

Your accommodation for the next two nights is already peeking out between the vineyards around Nizza Monferrato.
A winegrower's accommodation among the vineyards of Monferrato
The historic property with pool from the 18th century has been lovingly restored and today combines the rustic charm of a country estate with modern amenities. Here you can experience the authentic atmosphere of Piedmont in a stylish ambience. The Tenuta La Romana is an oasis of tranquillity, perfect for anyone who wants to experience the countryside and the pleasures of Piedmont in a stylish and relaxing ambience.

Sleep peacefully in the spacious rooms at Tenuta La Romana.
The excellent in-house restaurant can be reached directly via the courtyard. Chef Fiore Grillo will spoil you here with a 3-course gourmet menu, accompanied by the wines produced here. We were particularly impressed by the Barbera d'Asti and the Barbera d'Asti Superiore.
Discover Asti and the great tradition of sparkling wines
Famous for its Asti Spumante and the fine Barbera d'Asti, the town attracts wine lovers from all over the world. But Asti has much more to offer than just wines - its medieval old town delights with imposing towers, magnificent palazzi and charming squares.
A highlight is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the largest Gothic churches in Piedmont, with impressive frescoes and magnificent furnishings. The Palazzo Mazzetti, the city museum, takes visitors on a journey through the history of the region and exhibits works of art from antiquity to modern times. The Piazza San Secondo, the heart of the town, is a popular meeting place and a perfect spot to watch the hustle and bustle over a glass of wine. Asti is also known for its festivals: The Palio di Asti, one of the oldest horse races in Italy, gives the town a medieval flair every September.
You will experience a private guided tour of the town, which will tell you more about the town and, above all, the competition with neighboring Alba. We will be happy to reserve a table for you afterwards in one of the town's traditional restaurants.

The underground corridors are a pure labyrinth and absolutely impressive.
An absolute must on a Monferrato vacation is a visit to one of the oldest wineries in Italy, which is an absolute feast for the eyes.
The historic winery, one of the oldest in Italy, with its underground cathedrals is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fine sparkling wines are matured here deep underground using the traditional method (Metodo Classico) - with bottle fermentation and long ageing and pure millesimato (i.e. vintage sparkling wines).
The tour offers exciting insights into the history and production process. A highlight is the tasting of three fine sparkling wines, which impress with their elegance and fine perlage. They are accompanied by selected local delicacies.
We hope the Piedmont round trip gives you many unforgettable impressions and whets your appetite for this great region in northern Italy.
